Matthew (Matt) Brown, CEM, CFPS – Chief,  Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services (9-1-1 Communications, Fire Marshal, Fire Academy, EMA).

Chief Brown previously served as the Executive Director for the Pittsburgh Regional Business Coalition for Homeland Security. Chief Brown also served as the Director of Protection Services- US Operations for United States Steel Corporation where he held several titles over 27 years for U.S. Steel.

Chief Brown maintains certifications as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and as a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). As well as hundreds of other regional and national certifications and specialized trainings.

Chief Brown has over 42 years of administrative and field experience in emergency services, emergency management, security, close protection, industrial safety and hazardous materials. Chief Brown is also a Life member of Munhall Volunteer Fire Company #1 where he has held many ranks up to the level of Deputy Chief – Munhall Bureau of Fire and is currently a member of Glassport Citizen’s Hose Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and is a graduate of Steel Valley High School.
